New Clubs

We have some new clubs at Rubber Stamping Workshops!

Altrincham Rubber Stamping Group
We meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month, between 7-9pm, to share ideas & work on projects. Most people either bring projects to work on or purchase some card or a kit while at the meeting. There are many stamps & tools available for use, including Stampin' Up! products. There are products available to purchase at the meeting, eg. club kits, card, paper, embellishments & anyone interested in buying Stampin' Up! products can also place orders, as there's an independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator on site. We also meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month for a full day meeting. This runs from 10am to 4pm & a small project is included in the price. Lunch isn't included, so please bring your own.

Technique Club
As it's name suggests, this club is all about learning stamping techniques! Over time, you'll build up a fantastic technique portfolio, with step-by-step instructions plus a completed sample made by you! You'll also learn how to put these techniques into practice by creating projects at each meeting using your newly learned technique. The club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, between 7-9.30pm.

At the meeting, you will receive step-by-step instructions & you'll make a sample to attach to your instructions & file in your folder. You'll then make some projects using the technique you've just learned. The cost per monthly meeting is £10, which includes refreshments, printed instructions, page protector (for filing) & all materials & equipment needed to make the sample & projects. You'll also receive full tuition on how to perform the technique.

Can't make the meeting? Not a problem - either collect your missed packs in person, or download the technique from this site. You can also be a virtual member & just download the techniques. You'll miss out on the fun of being taught the technique & making the projects, but you'll still get the step-by-step instructions & photos of some great samples.

Shoe Box Swap Club
If you've never been to a shoe box swap, then you don't know what you're missing! You simply design a project and prepare enough supplies for everyone in attendance to re-create it! You bring the stamps, ink, card, paper, embellishments and any "special" adhesive needed (like glue dots or Crystal Effects) in a shoebox or similar container, then rotate the boxes around the room completing each others' projects! We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, 7-9.30pm.

Chat & Challenge
Come along & have a cuppa & a chat with other local crafters, while indulging your competitive side with our crafting challenge! Each month we'll be offering a different challenge for you to join in with. This could be a sketch, a colour inspiration, using a particular tool, stamp or embellishment....we have a large range of challenges to keep you busy for months to come!

We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month, between 7-9pm.

Faux Leather handbag

My craft club's full day meeting includes a small project. This month, I decided to demo how to create your own faux leather mini handbag! We used WS Design's handbag template & SU's Chocolate Chip cardstock.

The faux leather look is achieved quite easily - simply cover your cardstock (once cut) with VersaMark, then cover the whole surface with clear embossing powder. Before heating, using a scoring tool, draw lines randomly over the surface, taking care to only remove the unheated powder from where you're drawing. Once you're happy with your pattern, heat with a heat tool until all the powder has melted & voila - faux leather! Embellish to suit!

Golden Oldies!

Some more cards using items from the new Mini Stampin' Up! Catalogue - this time using the Golden Oldies set. All images were watercoloured using SU's Watercolour Wonder crayons & have been mounted on the new Washington Apple DSP.
I've used the faux stitching technique on the 1st card, plus some of the new designer buttons. The 2nd card is very simple, just mounting the image & creating a scalloped border using the Scallop Edge punch. I created the playing cards on the 3rd card using Sizzix Sizzlits - not sure of the name of the set, but it's the one with the playing cards & gaming chips.
It's nice to be able to add a touch of humour to cards!

Tag You're It! workshop

The Tag You're It! workshop was on Thursday night & here's a picture of what we made - 5 cards & a card wrap to hold them in. All items have been made using the tag punches, but using various different techniques. The card in the centre with "cute" on it is actually a bookmark made using the long tag technique. The blue card next to it also has a bookmark on it - made with a long paperclip. The green card next to the cute card doesn't have a flower on the tag - it has a hole in it & the flower is on the card!

Rolll with the Punches

Here are the 3 cards & tag made in the Roll with the Punches workshop. This technique combines wheels, punches & sponge daubers to make interesting backgrounds. The Christmas card also included some of the bandanna technique to add interest (dots & swirls in white gel pen).

Contact me if you'd like to attend this workshop.

Techniques

Just to let you know that there is now a Techniques page on my RSW (rubber stamping workshops) website. Each month a new technique is added, as it appears in the newsletter, so keep checking back! Click the above title to visit the page.

Website Updated

I've spent some time updating the Rubber Stamping Workshops website. I've added a calendar so you can see at a glance when events are planned for - and when I'm not available! This has also meant that I've been able to add descriptions of each event & an individual email link. Take a peek at the new-look events calendar here.

Details of the Customer Loyalty Scheme are now on the site & there's a new Techniques page. This will be updated on a monthly basis with the techniques that appear in the RSW newsletter.

My next plan is to try & get the events calendar here on the blog!
